This safari is designed for travellers who wish experience Tanzania’s amazing wildlife but have limited time or are on a tight schedule. This compact 3 day itinerary, you will explore Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater, all of which offer great opportunities to encounter lots of wildlife within a time.
Day 1: Arusha-Tarangire National Park
Further to your arrival at Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport, Gonja Safaris will pick you up for a drive to Tarangire National Park through the Masai Steppe (via Makuyuni Junction).
At any point in time in Tarangire, you are almost assured of watching a herd of the park’s ubiquitous elephants strolling down along slopes studded with ancient specimens of the bulbous baobab tree, also known as upside-down trees. You will also see lots of other animal species and some rare breeds like the oryx, hirolas, and some unique bird species.
The last activity for the day is a drive out of the park for a visit to the Mtowambu area for dinner and overnight at Fig Tree lodge.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
Wake up to a delightful breakfast at sunrise and after check out for a drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the 8th Wonder of the World. You will access the park via Loduare Main Gate, after which you will descend into the crater for a rewarding game drive. Your picnic lunch will be served on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Crater is ranked among the Wonders of the World thanks to its possession of a very large intact volcanic caldera that doubles as a natural sanctuary with dense animal populations. Here, you can chance on the rare black rhino in their natural habitat. Other specials to expect include lions, zebras, elephants, jackals, hippos, antelopes and flamingos and other species.
Later in the day, you will drive out of the crater rim and check in at Fig tree lodge.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park Adventure
After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Manyara Park for a half day game drive in search of tree-climbing lions, as well as other wildlife including giraffes, baboons, elephants, hippos and lots more. Enjoy your packed lunch in the park and later in the afternoon, depart for Arusha for overnight at your choice of accommodation ahead of your departing flight. Airport transfer can be arranged at an additional cost.
