This trip offers you a three days adventure of a lifetime at the largest reserve in Africa, Selous Game Reserve, also known as Nyerere National Park. This big 5 destination is easily accessible by road from Dar es Salaam, as well as by air from Zanzibar, Arusha, Serengeti, Ruaha and Mikumi. As such, we can easily incorporate a visit to it into a longer itinerary that includes the usual highlights of a Tanzania Safari.
Day 1: Road trip from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park / Selous Game Reserve
Having had your early morning breakfast, our driver guide will pick you at 07:30 pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam for a road trip to Selous Game Reserve. In an effort to make this five hours journey less exhausting, you will have stopovers through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. You will also have lunch en-route.
In the afternoon, you will embark on a sightseeing boat trip that offers guaranteed encounters of hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat.
Meals and overnight will be at Ngalawa Camp.
Day 2: Game Drives in the Park
Today’s breakfast will be followed by full-day game drive in search of large population of buffalo, elephants, wild dogs, lions, eland, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, baboon, kudus and zebras.
Dinner and overnight will be at the Ngalawa Camp.
Day 3: Selous Game Reserve to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, you will have a bush walk accompanied by rangers armed for about two hours. This will be followed with a drive back to Dar es Salaam with stopovers at Maasai and fishing villages on your way.
You will arrive in Dar es Salaam in time for your connecting flight to your next destination.
Should you wish to visit Zanzibar, it is possible to connect to it via both ferry and flight depending on your preference.
