This 5 Days Rwanda Golden Monkey Trekking Tour starts off with a city tour of Kigali, focusing on its historical attractions including the genocide museum. This is followed a visit to a progressive charity organization and cultural village where you will experience the local way of life. You will crown the tour with a gorilla tracking excursion in Volcanoes National Park.

DAY 1: Arrive Kigali International Airport and pick up

On arrival at Kigali International Airport for this magical safari in Africa, one of our Gonja Safaris driver/guide will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali.

You will spend much of this day resting as you recover from the jet lag.

Overnight at Five to Five Hotel

This hotel is a good point to start or finish a visit to Rwanda. You will enjoy its good service, flair and proximity to most of the attractions in Kigali. It is close to Kigali International Airport and Amahoro Stadium–the National stadium.

The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully decorated with local art.

Day 2: Full Day Kigali City

After breakfast embark on the Kigali city tour. This tour will take you to the following sites, most of which relate to the 1994 Genocide that ushered in Rwanda’s turning point.Nyamata Genocide  Church, Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko Market, Inema Arts Center, Presidential Museum, Camp Kigali Memorial, Natural History Museum-Kigali, and Campaign Against Genocide Museum (CAG), where you will be able to immerse yourself in Rwandan history.

Day 3: Nyamirambo women’s center tour – Aziz Life experience

After breakfast. Your tour guides will lead you to the Nyamirambo women’s center, which offers a uniquely personal insight into the culture, history, and daily life of the Nyamirambo community.

The Nyamirambo Women’s Centre is a local self-help group formed by local women and with support of women from other countries. Its purpose is to get them better employment opportunities.

The next activity is a cultural experience focusing on Rwandese. You may join in on gardening, local beer brewing, traditional cooking and many more.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze – Ibyiwacu and Gisakura Village

After breakfast. You will drive to Musanze, and proceed to visit Gisakura Village and later the Ibyiwacu cultural village. It showcases what typical villages in Rwanda look like, offering deep insights about traditional way of living. Here, authentic crafts are sold and traditional dances performed for tourists. The initiative was established to combat poaching in Volcanoes National Park (by offering former poachers alternative work and livelihoods).

Overnight stay at Villa Gorilla Lodge

This is a small bungalow type hotel situated on the foothills of Africa’s ultimate gorilla destination, Volcanoes National Park. It has priceless views of the three dormant mountains found in the park. The rooms are very clean and well decorated with authentic local handicrafts. Considering it’s found at a high altitude where temperatures are low, the hot water bottles they provide clients at night is a beautiful thought.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Kigali

You will drive to the Volcanoes National Park offices for Golden Monkey trekking briefing, after which you will start your trek. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. You will thereafter be transferred to Kigali in due time for your flight.
