This six day adventure starts and ends in Entebbe, the home of Uganda’s International Airport.  Among the main destinations you will explore is Kibale Forest National Park where you will go for chimpanzee trekking. At Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will pursue the Big 5 and indulge in game drives as well a game drive. The tour will be crowned at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the main habitat of the world’s surviving mountain gorilla population.

6 Days Uganda Primate & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival into Uganda through Entebbe International Airport

You’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to Kibale National Airport. However if you wish to relax before pursuing this five hour journey, accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost meaning you will start your trip to Kibale the next day early morning.

You will have stopovers along the way for photography.

The main activity for this afternoon is a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Among the specials that a wait you during this adventure include different monkey species and forest bird species such as the great blue turacco. Alternatively, you head out for a tour of the stunning collection of crater lakes around the park.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you will embark on a 10 minutes’ drive to the starting point for chimpanzee trekking as located at the heart of the tropical forest. The adventure will start off with a briefing that is focused on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. You will then enter the jungle for the chimpanzee tracking adventure(lasts between 2-5hours). Upon finding them, you will spend a maximum of one hour as you observe how chimps of different age brackets behave/spend their day.

Once through with the adventure, you will return to the lodge for a delightful lunch treat and later depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 3: Game Drives and Boat Cruise

Start your day with a cup of Ugandan coffee or tea. This will be followed with a drive to Kasenyi sector, a lush savannah stretch where morning game drives excel. Among the animals you stand great chances of encountering include leopards, spotted hyenas and lions. Crown your morning game drive with a bush breakfast treat at the heart of the open savannah as you marvel at wildlife.

Return to the lodge for lunch and thereafter head to Kazinga Channel for a sightseeing boat cruise. The relaxing adventure offers a great way to encounter a variety of water birds including the African Fish eagle, pelican, African Skimmer, and the shoe bill-a prehistoric species that has outlived extinction since the times dinosaurs were still alive. The boat ride will unfold within proximity to the shoreline so as to offer you upclose views of hippos, elephants, waterbucks, crocodiles and buffaloes as they cool off from the day’s heat.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will pursue another game drive in search for tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector after which your will be transferred to Bwindi National Park as located further south of Western Uganda.  You will arrive there in the evening. You will spend the evening relaxing so as to allow your batteries recharge ahead of the next day’s gorilla tracking.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Start your day with anmorning after breakfast after which you will embark on a five minutes drive to the start point for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The adventure starts off with a briefing session by ranger guides of the park after which you will enter the forest for your gorilla tracking adventure.  In an effort to enable travellers have quality time, travellers are usually split up in groups comprising of 8 people, each of which is accompanied by ranger guides. The walk off the beaten path offers accessibility to over 120 plant species that gorillas and other mammals in the park depend on for food. Gorilla tracking lasts between 2-8hours depending on the random movements of the apes. On finding them, you will have an interrupted one hour with their different members.

At the end of your successful adventure, you will be rewarded with a certificate by the park’s management. Refreshments await you at your lodge. Thereafter, you will set off to Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic gem where you will relax from the long day’s adventure as you enjoy scenes of beautiful islands and birds.

Day 6: Return Journey back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport

After your relaxed breakfast, you will embark on the return journey to Kampala of Entebbe International Airport ahead of your flight to your next destination. Along the way on this road trip, you will take in breathtaking views of mountains, and plantations of bananas, tea and coffee. You will make several stopovers to do shopping, photography, and experiments at the equator.

You will reach Kampala in the evening. If you wish to breakdown this day long drive, we can arrange for you an overnight stay at Lake Mburo National Park, a savannah park located halfway between Entebbe and Bwindi. An alternative option for enthusiast of cultural tourism is Emburara Farm Lodge – a countryside ranch with a healthy population of the indigenous Ankole long horn cattle. Kindly note that this comes at a small extra cost as it is not inclusive of the package.
