Lake Manyara has that old-world charm of high cliffs, soaring flocks of beautiful birds, and a small and scenic lake. A combination that can easily rejuvenate one’s sense of wonder. At first glance, the park seems almost completely dominated by the shallow expanses of the lake. Surprisingly, it has an impressive diversity of habitats, not to mention one of the highest biomass densities of large mammals. Expect to find lots of elephants, hippos, zebras, buffalo, and giraffes are all frequently spotted.

Lake Manyara National Park

Most of the clients we have brought here are left enchanted by the sight of wildlife grazing in the emerald-green swamp grass. To others, it’s the memory of impressively large flocks of white pelicans and pink flamingos that indulge on the lake and dot it beautifully with their colours.

The happy ending to all this is the sight of abundant elephants, most of which are descendants of the herds that famous biologist Ian Douglas-Hamilton studied in the 1970s. Though not habituated, they are accustomed to human visitors and are non-violent.

Lake Manyara’s tree-climbing lions also make it a magnet taking into account that not so many parks have this. Nothing beats the sight of a lioness and her cute cubs perched quite precariously on the branches of an acacia tree.

The park’s other draws include its lovely collection of lodges. It is location enroute Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Park.
